In the business of life, between work, family, and responsibilities, it’s easy to let prayer slip to the background. But for couples who want to grow spiritually and emotionally, praying together is one of the most powerful things you can do.
At 2 Love By Design, we believe that a relationship rooted in faith produces deeper love, stronger communication, and lasting peace. If you’ve never prayed together, or if you want to make it more consistent, here are 7 simple and impactful ways to pray together as a couple.
1. Begin and End the Day With Prayer
Start your mornings by holding hands and thanking God for a new day. End your nights
asking for rest, unity, and protection. These short but consistent prayers build spiritual
rhythm into your daily life.
2. Keep a Couples Prayer Journal
Write down your prayer requests, answered prayers, and Scriptures that speak to you as a couple. Reflecting on what God has done builds faith and reminds you that He is in every season.
3. Pray Scripture Over Each Other
Pick a verse and speak it over your partner. Try verses like 1 Corinthians 13:4–7 or
Ephesians 3:16–19. Personalize it with your spouse’s name, and watch how it transforms
your words into declarations of love and faith.
4. Pray Aloud—Even if It Feels Awkward
Start with short prayers. One of you can say a sentence of thanks, the other can follow with a request. You don't need perfect words—just honest hearts. God honors your effort more than your eloquence.
5. Set a Weekly Prayer Night
Light a candle, set a peaceful tone, and pray together for your family, future, and friends.
End with worship music, journaling, or reading a devotional together. Make it sacred,
intentional, and protected from distractions.
6. Use a Guided Couples Prayer
If you’re unsure where to start, try a guided prayer app, YouTube video, or podcast.
Listening and praying together can spark conversations and remove the pressure to get it right.
7. Cover Each Other in Silent Prayer
Sometimes the most powerful prayers are the ones spoken in silence. Place a hand on your partner and pray over their mind, heart, body, and spirit. Let God fill the space with peace.
Praying together isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being present. It’s about inviting God into the relationship and allowing His love to shape your connection. Whether it’s five minutes or fifty, what matters is that you come together, heart to heart and hand in hand.
